Cillian Murphy portrayed Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, The Dark Kight and The Dark Knight Rises. He is one of only five actors to appear in all three films. Murphy also auditioned for the role of Batman in the Sonar Batsuit, though Christian Bale ultimately received the role.
Murphy has also appeared in several other films directed by Nolan, portraying Robert Fischer Jr. in Inception, the Shivering Soldier in Dunkirk and most famously, J. Robert Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer. He also portrayedThomas Shelby in BBC TV series Peaky Blinders.
